Huang Xiaoliang's work is always related to memories and hopes. The special way of description in his work reflects the ambiguous and intriguing relationship between him and the past or the present China.
He recreates the clips of everyday life he captures on the computer, converts the drawn image files into a film, and then projects them onto a variegated wall using a slide projector. Regardless of whether the final image is black and white or chromatic, it is just purely the projection from the wall, his paper paintings are very similar to image works.
By filming these shades and shadows - seemingly confusing cuts and stitching, he presses the search engine of life for each viewer and hopes to activate a plain and simple spring of happiness.
